In an interview with the lead producer of WoW, J. Allen Brack, it was announced that the next legendary may be a dagger for rogues. The exact quotes are as follows:
Suffice to say that I'm not happy with this change. I am by no means jealous of my shadowy brethren, I had my thirst for orange pixels quenched in ICC, however I think that making a legendary tailored to one class is a titanic misstep on Blizzard's part. For one, since The Burning Crusade, each legendary has been a) part of a huge questline and b) useable by a minimum of 4 specs/classes. Val'Anyr was amazing for virtually every healer there is. Shadowmourne was best in slot for Blood and Unholy DKs, Ret Pallies, and Warriors. Now, Dragonwraith is amazing for Spriests, Mages, Warlocks, Ele Shamans, and Boomkins. I can not believe that Blizzard is seriously considering diverging from this very fair and balanced system to give an unfortunate wepon type to one particular class.
For one, it isn't like rogues are Enhancement Shamans who have never had a true legendary to call their own. Aside from maybe Thunderfury, Illidan's Warglaives are two of the most recognizable items in the entire game, and a symbol of prestige and effort for any Rogue lucky enough to have them. The idea that they're giving rogues a legendary because they don't get enough orange love is lunacy.
In addition, with the amount of effort that Blizzard has put into making 10man raiding a viable route to take for raiders, making a legendary for only one class would be amazingly counter-intuitive. Rogues are the least played class in the game, and I have personal experience with the fact that 10man teams with rogues are actually in the minority in comparison to those with. The thought that Blizzard would work against themselves in such a fashion is unlikely.
